RIS

A Radiology Information System (RIS) is a computer system used by a radiology department to store, manage, retrieve, and distribute clinical and administrative information. 

 

A typical RIS is used for patient registration and tracking, results (report) management and distribution, and image tracking.  A RIS can also include a HIS or PACS interface, scheduling, billing, or other capabilities.
