MPR
Multi Planar Reconstruction (MPR) generates new "slices" based on the series of axial slices acquired by a CT or MR from any given direction.  The curved MPR feature, where a physician can "trace" an area requiring better visualization, is especially useful, such as for tracking the curve of the aorta.  It is also possible to generate these axial slices from x-ray images.  For example, a modified mammography device allows 11 images to be acquired from different angles, allowing for visualization of "thin slices," and to prevent lesions from being obscured.
